First Chemo this morning . . .

Kevin officially started treatment today. Hooked up to a bag of magnesium & saline for 2 hours. Then Cisplatin the chemo drug for 2 more. Finally, another bag of saline for a couple more to assist the kidneys in filtering the chemo.

As nervous as we were, the chemo appointment was actually pretty good and uneventful.

We showed up at 8:30, with a small blanket, two comfy pillows, an ice chest with snacks and drinks, my laptop bag and his iPad. All prepared and was a little surprise when Nurse Kuljit smiled and said, “First time right? You’ll know more for next time and be more prepared. You won’t need all that stuff.” One could take offense to that but it was impossible being said from Kuljit. If there is truly a nurse bedside manor you would hope to have in your time of need, Nurse Kuljhit is the one. She made us feel comfortable by explaining everything. She made sure we knew what was available; pillows, warm blankets, snacks, juice, etc. BEST PART: She also got that IV in with one shot!

Nurse Kaljit explained and gave me written instructions for care as well. We hope to be so lucky as to get her again for the next two treatments in 3 and 6 weeks.
